About CodeStory

We're building the placement-readiness platform India's CS classrooms have been improvising without.

Every year, 1.5 million Indians graduate with a CS degree. Roughly four in ten won't be hired into the field they trained for. We think that's not a student problem — it's a teaching, measurement, and signal problem. CodeStory is our answer to all three.

Why CodeStory exists

Every student we tutored could code. Almost none could interview. The gap was never knowledge — it was the room: speaking while typing, defending a choice, surviving a follow-up.

So we buildthe room, not another course

The problem

India is graduating coders faster than it's hiring them.

The students aren't lazy. They've been told to "do LeetCode" — so they open 18 tabs at 1 a.m., copy a solution they can't explain, and wonder why the same problem feels new the next day. The retention is zero. The confidence is performative.

The placement cells aren't failing — they're improvising. Most don't have a single objective signal of whether a student is ready for an interview. They send everyone to the campus drive and pray.

And the Tier-2/3 colleges — the ones that take in 80% of the country's engineering aspirants — get the worst of it. Their students fight harder, prepare longer, and earn less for it. We built CodeStory for them first.

The insight

You don't forget a story. You forget a slide.

CS concepts are abstract: recursion, hashing, dynamic programming. When you teach them with a definition and a code block, students memorise. When you teach them with a story — a postman with a route, a librarian with shelves, a courier with stacks — students understand.

Once the idea is in their head, an AI human-avatar tutor asks them to explain it out loud — the way a Google or Razorpay interviewer would. The placement cell sees the score. The student sees themselves differently. That's the whole product.

The founders

Built by two engineers who learned the hard way — so the next student doesn't have to.

What we believe

Three rules we'd quit before breaking.

  1. Story over syntax.

We teach the idea before the keyword. If a student can't explain a concept to a non-coder, we haven't taught it yet. Animation is not decoration — it's the lesson.

  2. Outcomes over engagement.

Streaks are easy. Offers are the work. We measure ourselves on placement-readiness and interview pass rates, not on time-in-app — even when it costs us DAU.

  3. Tier-2/3 first.

Our default product runs on a modest laptop and a regular phone over the kind of connection a 2nd-year student in Bhopal actually has. If it works there, it works anywhere.

Where we are

Bootstrapped. Honest. Building.

  1. Shipped

    The wedge, without dilution

Story-lessons and the AI interview tutor — bootstrapped. In conversations with India-focused EdTech and AI funds; nothing closed, nothing claimed.

  2. Now

    Founding college cohort

Free pilot semester, full platform, direct line to the founders. If that's your campus, talk to us.

  3. Next

    Outcomes, published

29 shipped stories, 1,900+ questions, three AI interview rooms — and zero invented traction numbers. Results go public when they're real and ours.

Talk to us

Three doors. Pick whichever fits.

We answer every email — Anil reads commercial, Anuraag reads technical. If you're a college, an engineer who wants to build with us, or an investor who cares about the next million Indian engineers, we'd like to hear from you.
